Our Mission
Join with us in standing up to development of conservation land at Turtle Bay.
The development of luxury condos on designated conservation land by Arete Collective, a mainland business from Utah is disturbing fragile native land. Let's all stand up to foreign developers that want to take the land from our endangered species and take away one of the few natural areas left in Hawaii. Let's continue the longstanding tradition of conservation at Turtle Bay. With sea level rise the beach, what they are building will be underwater in the near future and their development will add unmanageable traffic.
What Just Happened!
Recently, the new owners of the Turtle Bay Hilton, now Ritz Carleton, have breeched their longstanding agreement to preserve the surrounding land as a dedicated conservation area. They sold hundreds of acres to the fast moving Arete Collective, a mainland company based in Utah. Arete queitly bought the land, erected a fence, and began to dig and tear down the forest of Kuilima Bay near Turtle Bay and Kahuku point. They did not involve the community before they began to dig. They are operating under a permit granted back in the 1980's and 2015 with very outdated stipulations, and they already destroyed acres of habitat in a sensitive area that affects many endangered species.
Arete will do this same thing to more land if we don't add our voice to save Hawaiian land, sensitive beaches, sacred burial sites, and endangered species.

Save the Laysan Albatross
Only 150 critically endangered laysan albatross nest on Oahu. They need to raise their chicks on this beach!

Turtle Bay to Kahuku Point is an important site because nesting pairs raise their chicks here! The albatross will not have the ability to raise their chicks if luxury Condos are built here!
Save the Hawaiian Monk Seal
Only 400 Critically Endangered Hawaiian Monk seals are left on the Main Hawaiian Islands and they need to raise their pups on this beach!

Turtle Bay to Kahuku Point is an important site for the mothers raise their pups. The seals will not have the ability to raise their pups if luxury Condos are built here! In 40 years the beach that they propose to be leaving will be underwater due to sea level rise and the seals will have nowhere to go.

Conservation Area Destroyed!
Which is it? Is it a conservation site? or is it a construction zone for luxury condo residents who will displace endangered species, push away locals and overcrowd the roads. Tourists will also loose this pristine area to enjoy.
Approaching the conservation site, the sign reads, "Enjoy 8.5 miles of public access trails which are provided throughout 600+ Acres of natural, undeveloped land conserved in PERPUITY by a private, public, and community partnership (hui).
Walk a little further and you reach a sign that reads, "Construction Area: Keep Out".
